SKITTLES: A BITTERSWEET LOVE STORY BY RICHARD MARSH
Skittles is a comedy for Radio 4; a story about love (and sweets, which are more reliable).
Richard Marsh’s Skittles is a deeply funny and truly moving account of losing love and learning to put yourself back together again.
Richard will tell four fifteen minute tales across one evening about the giddy excitement of young love, cars covered in sweets, broken dreams, trans-American honeymoon road trips and a seductive-looking lady called Sorrow.
Richard is a magnetic and charming storyteller, slipping from rhyme to prose and back again in a fast-paced, accessible way - at times hilarious, at others heart-breaking. Think David Sedaris crossed with Jay-Z. But from Somerset.
Adapted from Richard’s hit stand up/theatre show at the Edinburgh fringe 2011, Skittles is a powerful hour in the company of a rare talent. Despite the stories being very personal, their appeal is universal – if you’ve ever been in love, had your heart broken - or proposed on a full bladder - Skittles is for you.
Richard is a poet and playwright (one of the inaugural 503/5 writers-in-residence at Olivier Award-winning Theatre503). This year, he has been named London poetry slam champion and one of Time Out’s Culture Hot 100, and won a Fringe First for Dirty Great Love Story (co-written with Katie Bonna). Catch his radio debut before he gets too famous to fit his head through the studio door.’
