Sentient is a comedy night special at Up the Creek Comedy Club, featuring some of the best up-and-coming comedians on the UK comedy scene. The evening will be filmed as part of a documentary series being produced for National Geographic and Disney+ which will celebrate the amazing power of human language.
Our host for the evening will be Burt Williamson. Burt is a stand-up comedian, improviser and comedy producer. He’s had two critically acclaimed runs at the Edinburgh Fringe while also having self-produced his debut comedy hour 200 IQ Audience Only (No Munters) which is available on YouTube. At once silly and serious, smart and stupid Burt packs dense punchlines with know-it-all smarm and goofy charm to hilarious effect. At the forefront of a new and exciting generation of comics emerging from Bristol, Burt leads the charge on a new wave of talent in British comedy.

Joining Burt on stage will be Katie Green, Riki Msindo & Michael Akadiri.
Katie Green is one of the most exciting new voices to hit the UK comedy scene. Born and raised near San Francisco, in a British and Salvadoran household, a classmate in an acting class told her, "You aren't that good at acting, but you should try stand-up," and this backhanded compliment would start her comedy career. She moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA and pursue comedy. With a Master's Degree in Latin American Studies, she moved to London, after featuring in HBO's Women in Comedy Festival, LaughFest, the Funny Women Fest, the San Diego Comedy Festival, and Limestone Comedy Festival. Katie was a Funny Women Finalist in 2020, and in 2022 beat 100's of applicants to secure a place in one of Edinburgh Festival's most prestigious new-comic showcases, 'The Pleasance Comedy Reserve.’
Riki Msindo has performed all over the Southwest and London which means he’s got a cocktail of an accent. His chubby-cheeked smile contrasting his sharp tongued observations let’s Riki be unapologetically confident. His podcast Oh Captain My Captain has had incredible guests including Jimmy Carr, Joe Lycett and Russell Howard.
Michael Akadiri’s natural charm and cheeky, observational style has already seen him make an impact on the UK comedy scene. He’s the inaugural winner of the Komedia New Comedy Award and starred in the London finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2021 (BBC Three) and feature on the latest series Comedy Central LIVE (Comedy Central), The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV2). He has collaborated with Channel 4, appearing in their Jokes Only series on their Facebook & TikTok channels and written and performed original sketch content in partnership with LadBible UK. His radio credits include the Capital Xtra’s Breakfast Show, BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends, BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Comedy Club and stand-up on Radio 4’s Fred at the Stand. Michael also works as a junior doctor in the NHS and is currently on a sabbatical from his surgical training. His 2022 Edinburgh Fringe debut was success, with his show ‘No Scrubs’ selling out the run and culminating in a nomination for NextUp’s Biggest Award in Comedy. The subsequent UK tour in early 2023 was a hit and the critically acclaimed show is now available to view as a special on Michael’s YouTube channel.
The show will be recorded on Wednesday 27th March 2024 at Up the Creek, Greenwich, London, and booking is now open so if you'd like to join us for a night of laughter, then apply now!
